New Delhi: In one year, more than 12,000 students committed suicide in India, after which the number of students who lost their lives in the last 26 years has crossed 180,000.
According to Indian media reports, a survey report was released recently, which states that the suicide rate among students in India has increased by 21%.
According to the data of reports released by various states of India, 34 students committed suicide every day from 2020 to 2021 after the outbreak of the Corona epidemic in the country.
A total of more than 12,500 students committed suicide in one year, the report said. According to the data released, the suicide rate has increased by more than 21% compared to 2019.

According to the official report, more than 180,000 students have lost their lives since 1995. A review of past data reveals that the suicide rate increased sharply between 2020 and 21.
If we look at the data of the governments of the Indian states of Maharashtra, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh, the number of suicides increased by 53% in one year.
The report states that during 2021, 5,928 students committed suicide in other states till the end of October. Most of these students were studying in the university while the suicide rate among the school students has also increased.
“We need to consider the factors that are forcing students to take drastic steps,” psychologists said, adding that the rising trend of student suicides was a cause for concern.
